Kona Morris is a storyteller, writer, comedian, and educator.
She is also an editor, creative writing and storytelling coach, problem solver, producer, philosopher, artist, dancer, DJ, cycle breaker, sea captain, and sole minister of The Secular Humanist Church of Freddie Mercury (yes, ha).
Kona has over 20 years of experience as an educator, teaching creative writing and literature classes to students of all ages, from native villages in Northern Alaska to community workshops in New York, with 14 years as a college and university professor in Colorado.
Kona has won The Moth StorySLAM in both New York City and Los Angeles, and she recently came in first place for the Ojai Storytelling Festival Story Slam, which was judged by Featured Tellers from the National Storytelling Festival. She has been on national podcasts such as RISK! and AITApod, and she starred in Denver’s Live Drunk History Comedy Troupe, where she was Editor-in-Chief of Fast Forward Press. Kona’s stories, articles, and prose poems have appeared in a variety of publications, and she has been featured at literary readings, writing conferences, storytelling events, and comedy shows around the world.
